Lost In Thoughts

There comes a point in life when we find ourselves lost in thought, either because life has dealt us devastating blows or because we are overwhelmed by the many blessings at our disposal.

Life comes in stages, and I can almost assure you that every individual navigating the shores of life has experienced both phases. We can only hope that the latter has been the most significant in defining our journeys.

As a little boy, I dreamed about the life I have today, and now that I am a man, I dream of more.

Has life been fair? Absolutely. Could it have been better? Without a doubt. But am I grateful? With every breath in me.

However, we all desire more and have the potential to be more.

I often find myself lost in thoughts, pondering what life would have been like if my dad had not left us so early. Would I have had a gentler landing, or would his ever-loving arms around me have made me a less capable person? I sometimes wonder if I would have relied too heavily on his support, never needing to lift a finger to lace up my Nike sneakers.

I can't help but consider what life would have been without Christ's sacrifice for my sins. Perhaps I would have had more than enough apples to eat, not caring if I ran around the garden naked.

Yet, the thought of eternal condemnation quickly brings me back to my senses, prompting me to beg God for the provisions to afford the necessities of life. I recognise that there are challenges I would have to face to wipe away countless tears; tears that could have been avoided if my father had been the president of the world.

How are things shaping up for you? Do you wish you had graduated with first-class honours and had multiple job proposals to choose from? Would you prefer to work as a lead engineer on a multi-million-dollar Chevron contract, or would you rather pursue a creative path by designing some of the world's finest infrastructure?

What if I had never picked up a cigarette? Could I have been the most celebrated athlete at the Olympics? I want to play football, but my lungs no longer function as they did 30 years ago. Would things have been different if I hadn't indulged in alcohol?

However, if wishes were horses, men would ride. Therefore, I won't dwell on wishing I hadn't indulged in these things. This isn't a time for regret but for sober reflection, so join me as I ask...

What's the way forward, Lord? Your children are weighed down with disappointment. Too many bills remain unpaid, too many heartbreaks endured, too many nightmares faced. Some can't stand the dark anymore.

We are lost, and hell is rejoicing. Yet, that has never been the blueprint. The opposite should be the case. I stand for many as I call on the name of Jesus Christ to rescue the world from the clutches of the devil. I maintain my dream of becoming the most renowned writer to walk this earth, but how can my dream become a reality when I can barely afford a pen?

There are so many brothers and sisters of faith with dreams of their own, yet they wake up to tears soaked into their pillows. These thoughts never fade, just as the fear of going to hell for doing wrong to acquire wealth continues to haunt me.

Many youth are lost, engaging in activities that do not glorify Your name. It's disheartening to see how desperate people can become to make ends meet. And quite frankly, ends aren't meeting at all.

Many have lost hope, but we stay afloat by Grace. Could Your grace extend to those out there in the world who have lost their way in search of a livelihood?

The world needs revival.

The world needs help.

I do too.

When my pen bleeds, expressions are kept close to my heart, and as it bleeds the words from deep within through my writings, I discover I have created art. I display a piece of my soul. This is my work, my blood, and it should be an object of pride, no matter how much it is criticized or praised.
