It Pays To Let Him Do The Work While We Walk In Faith

Don't Lose Track of the Things That Truly Matter

Many people unconsciously lose sight of what truly matters in their pursuit of survival, and this affects every aspect of life. I've come to realise that life often revolves around activating one survival mode or another as we strive to fulfil our destinies. The state of the world's economy has made it easy to fall into unfortunate patterns or routines, and life has become a survival of the fittest.

As a parent, there are always bills to pay to provide the best possible care and attention for your children, and this applies to single individuals as well. Even if you don't have family responsibilities, the costs of transportation and housing may lead you to question your spending habits, especially when all you receive are debit alerts with little income coming in.

Life has become tough, and if we're not careful, we may find ourselves lost in the shadows of others. This explains why numerous shortcuts lead out of many homes, often resulting in misplaced priorities; ends must meet no matter what it takes, right?

I can relate to this struggle; I experience my share of daily battles. However, it's time to hit the reset button before we undermine ourselves. Many are quick to provide excuses and justifiable reasons for their actions, yet few are ready to face the consequences.

Family time is increasingly neglected, and children are often "compensated" with good meals and bowls of popcorn, but that's not enough. Nothing can replace strong family values and nurtured parental love.

Now, let's discuss our service in the Lord's vineyard. I, too, have made countless excuses and found myself not contributing to the house of God, despite our primary mission on Earth being to reach out to the world. The new generation is growing up outside the church, and while parents lament over questionable pastors and elders, they choose to give their tithes away instead of to the church. However, that's not the main focus here, so I won't delve too deeply into it. What I want to emphasise is that many things have gone wrong in our quest to live, and we are beginning to lose our identity in Christ and as citizens.

We are all guilty in this regard, so it's not a time for finger-pointing, but rather a wake-up call to reconnect with the source of life, who asks nothing in return except that we spend it righteously and intentionally.

I chose to focus on these two areas because I believe that home and church are vital aspects of life that shape our reality. I hope these reflections have convinced, rather than confused, you that God is love. If we can trust Him instead of trying to fight our battles alone, we'll discover that it pays to let Him do the work while we walk in faith.

Through the eyes of God, our expectations can become our reality.

Kolawole Solomon

When my pen bleeds, expressions are kept close to my heart, and as it bleeds the words from deep within through my writings, I discover I have created art. I display a piece of my soul. This is my work, my blood, and it should be an object of pride, no matter how much it is criticized or praised.
