The Presence

The Presence by Kolawole Solomon

I got to work this morning with smiles because of an amazing experience I was privileged to have and my week couldn't have started better.

And no, I didn't win a lottery or wake up with an accidental bank alert worth millions of Naira but having a first-row seat experience with the Holy Spirit is worth more than all the silver and gold in the world combined.

So... I got up early as usual, took my bath, got dressed, started the ignition and off to work. Getting to the estate gate, I saw an elderly neighbour of mine who happens to be one of the estate executives, she was pissed off from the fact that she was running out of patience waiting for her ride. Long story short, I was led to give her a lift and I was glad I did.

Not that we had the best of conversations or she promised to give a discount when next I'll be renewing my estate dues but she gave me something more that made it worth the while; a testimony.

As usual, I had my gospel playlist on Apple Music playing in the background as I tried to escape the early morning rush and indeed, it was a great Monday morning routine to take my mind away from all that traffic mess on the Lekki/Ajah axis of the metropolis.

What was her testimony you would ask? I'm sorry it took so long but I just wasn't going to let the cat out of the bag so soon, needed to practice my essay writing. Lol... Just kidding!

Anyway, she said the most beautiful things a man who's just mending the broken pieces of his relationship with the Father (God) would want to hear.

According to her, my car was the first she ever got into (hers included) and she felt at peace. Usually, she'll be shouting in due to so much pain due to her broken spinal cord. What baffled her the most was the fact she was also able to sleep. You'll never appreciate the gift of life itself when you're in good health. It's priceless! That felt good, knowing my presence could bring relief to a burning unpleasant soul.

So, I ask, what does your presence give to people?

Does it bring comfort or discomfort to them?

Is the atmosphere around you worthy enough to have the Holy Spirit dwelling and provoked to act?

Do others get motivated by the energy they perceive from you?

Brethren, it is not about binding and casting demons all the time. Your presence is enough to heal the sick and lift burdens off a restless soul.

The presence of God does wonders and you can have that presence anyway, not just within the walls of the church.

We are church

We are His presence

Carry Him along everywhere you go and let others benefit from His fulness

This is my testimony

My grace

My worth

And my work

His work.

Kolawole Solomon

When my pen bleeds, expressions are kept close to my heart, and as it bleeds the words from deep within through my writings, I discover I have created art. I display a piece of my soul. This is my work, my blood, and it should be an object of pride, no matter how much it is criticized or praised.
