Who Am I Not To Praise God?

Who Am I Not To Praise God?

Sitting in my room, following up on the story of the young hawker, #Salle who was recently spotted for her angelic voice and then I remembered the little boy #Flavour picked up years back and decided to visit his #YouTube page and there it was, "Most High", a duet they had together praising God and I thought to myself, who am I not to praise God, if a blind kid is lifting his voice and hands high in complete adoration and gratitude to God, despite living most of his life in darkness, and I almost shed a tear.

Human, we are the most complex, blessed, sophisticated, yet the most ungrateful species ever made. We cry and complain about the little we don't have and forget to be thankful for the many that we do have.

We are most interested in scriptures like Phillippians 4:19 where we remind God of His Words of supplying our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus but neglect Psalm 100 that talks about always going into His presence with thanksgiving.

What a shame! How selfish can we be?

There's a popular #yoruba proverb that says, " Ti omo ba dupe, a ri omiran gba' which simply means that when a child shows gratitude, he'll receive another.

Let us cultivate a habit of thanksgiving.

Recently, I was going through the #Instagram page of @kokunfoundation and you will weep if you saw the places people like you and I live and raise their families. Yet, I have many friends, families and associates who complain bitterly everyday of how they are tired of living in an estate in #Badore because of the traffic and want a better apartment in the #Lekki axis of the #Lagos metropolis, forgetting some don't even have a roof over their head to sleep and make a living. Please, note, by the way, there's nothing wrong with wanting more.

However, what an ungrateful generation we are becoming. When was the last time we went to God with a prayer request full of blank pages for that single reason of thanking Him?

Remember, sometimes, not asking in gratitude can as well mean receiving in gratitude. Heaven is more moved when we give than ask. Give praises today and receive a bountiful harvest of your thanksgiving. Givers, they say never lack, the same philosophy works with the things of the spirit.

I have my legs, my two eyes are functioning perfectly and I can smell and taste despite covid vanquishing the city, so tell me, who am I not to praise God?

Amid all the chaos, lack, death, losses and setbacks, God has been faithful and if you think it's a lie, turn to the next man and hear a bit of his story.

It is a terrible thing to live life without gratitude. Just for the single reason of sleeping and waking up every day is enough reason to be grateful. For that truth, I believe from today, that we'll begin to thank God for the things He has done, while we wait in thanksgiving for the ones yet undone.

God bless you all

When my pen bleeds, expressions are kept close to my heart, and as it bleeds the words from deep within through my writings, I discover I have created art. I display a piece of my soul. This is my work, my blood, and it should be an object of pride, no matter how much it is criticized or praised.
