Keep Your Joy

Keep Your Joy

Have you at any point in your life felt the following: delight, great pleasure, joyfulness, jubilation, triumph, exultation, rejoicing, happiness, gladness, glee, exhilaration, ebullience, exuberance, elation, euphoria, bliss, ecstasy?

Now Pause! When genuinely was the last time you felt that way?

Just like me, it might have been a while. Why? Due to many externals such as comparing yourself to others especially if you consistently are exposed to the media, friends who are seemingly doing well, or just other circumstantial events that have robbed you.

At the root of no joy is the thief comparison; it slowly whispers words of discontent to you, throws shades of dissatisfaction with your current life, your life's process, family, relationships, finances, career and so much more (fill in what you feel currently in the blank spot) that you seem to just be floating through life dissatisfied with the results that you have.

What can be done? it is possible to feel all of this and yet know that you can change how you feel and the results that you see in your life currently.

How do you change how you feel and the results that you see?

Just “KEEP YOUR JOY'

What is joy really?

Joy is an attitude of the heart determined by confidence in God. Real, genuine joy is a byproduct of having a strong and intimate relationship with Christ. To truly know Christ is to truly have joy.

From this you see again just like my quote from the last blog “ the thief called comparison' I mentioned that the best things in life are indeed internal and not external.

How can you keep your joy

1. Have a relationship with God. (if you don't have one yet, you can just start now by asking Him for one and giving your life to Him and He will take it up from there)
2. Be grateful. Gratitude is an antidote for so many ill feelings like depression, envy, comparison, dissatisfaction, and the like. (if you are not sure there is anything in your life to be grateful for, well thank Him for life, eyes to read this post, mind to understand what is being written and you will see more flow to your mind)
3. Maintain a relationship with God
4. True joy comes from God, so stay in sync with Him

In addition to joy being an attitude, joy is also a spirit and is pretty contagious.

So I urge you today, choose joy, keep your joy, engage with joy, and thank God for Joy.

Kolawole Solomon

When my pen bleeds, expressions are kept close to my heart, and as it bleeds the words from deep within through my writings, I discover I have created art. I display a piece of my soul. This is my work, my blood, and it should be an object of pride, no matter how much it is criticized or praised.
