If there's any book I've failed to read as much as I should, it is the Holy Book; The Bible. I simply run with the elementary knowledge gained several decades ago, over three decades have gone by, nothing added hence the malnutrition of my spirituality and the reasons for many setbacks I have encountered through the journey of my #life.
We can't play God, attempting that will only result in us pointing a gun to our own faces an imminent death lurking except grace abounds. As a child, I could say at least five things I wanted to be and could have been except that I stopped believing and ignorantly chose to do other things because the truth is that no one has the power to stop you but your own self.
Just to give a clue of how talented I was as a child, I could have become a world-class footballer and have hundreds and thousands of silverware to show for that but I chose to pick up a stick of cigarette that became more stick, then packs with nothing to show for it but wasted resources, #time and #health.
I remember while playing football in the university for my department at the faculty hosted games, I had a couple of cans of energy drinks sitting by the sideline, unfortunately, I only got to play fifteen minutes of the games because my heart almost fell off my chest because it was weak from constant abuse. What a tragedy!
Our life choices go a long way in defining our future and I failed woefully to make them. #Alcohol and #marijuana had taken their toll on me as well as my love for women. Thank God for second chances otherwise who knows what would have become of me.
If only I read my bible often growing up as a child, I would have discovered God's ultimate plans for me at an early age and would have channelled my energy towards fulfilling that purpose rather than believing the lies sold to me by the devil disguised in frivolities and perceived enjoyment.
If I read my bible early enough and understood the concept of forgiveness, I wouldn't have allowed the devil to condemn me for my many mistakes that led to even greater ones because of my ignorance of the Word. I allowed myself to be judged and feel unworthy when the Bible says otherwise. God is always ready to accept us with open arms just like the story of the #prodigalson as long as we come to Him with a repentant heart.
If only I had read my bible while I was in the university, I could have taken advantage of the many crusades organized on the campus grounds to win souls for God rather than the many nights I graced the clubs with my charm and vibed to unworthy songs blaring from the speakers.
I could go on and on making references to the many times I failed to prioritized God's Word over my desires and I know you can too but this isn't the time for regrets. This is the time to lead the younger generation in the right direction and help shape them so they don't become prey to these agents of destruction readily available to all. Their wings are almost fully grown and anticipating to fly.
For a long time, I used to think aborting my child while I was in senior secondary school was my biggest mistake and regret but no, it is actually not getting acquainted with my Bible as I should. If only I could turn back the hands of time, I'll dine with it, walk with it, sleep and wake with it.
So... I admonish you all to pick up your Bibles today and begin to study them in-depth for in it lies the truths and pathway of life. No one can ever go wrong with studying the #Bible and following the path it leads. Where we can go wrong is allowing others to blaspheme the Word, hypocritically preaching to us truths we can find for ourselves.
The #HolySpirit is our best teacher but please that doesn't mean I'm telling you not to go to church or have others preach 'Them' to you. All I'm saying is that it is hard to have someone confuse you about what the truth is if you have a basic and sound knowledge of 'IT.'
To find God... study The Word.
Then you'll find YOU.
