In the past, I wrote an article on the emancipation of mental slavery and I believe a couple of other authors have as well, but what is equally or perhaps more detrimental and destiny-truncating to us is being a 'slave to self' unfortunately, but true, many don't realize that they can be better than what they presently are, others have simply chosen to settle for less.
We live in the shadow of ourselves and are fast losing value for what we are truly worth. Truth be told, it all begins with our thoughts controlling our minds thus creating an atmosphere of peril, discomfort and a complete lack of confidence in our ability to press on. That is if we are moving at all. How sad!
Unfortunately, many have believed in the lie devil has sold to them 'half a loaf is better than none' hence the upward growth of complacency in our generation, however, it is my job and the concern of anyone who still has an iota of love springing out of that heart to pick up a brush and help paint a better picture of how and what life should be for and to those who may have forgotten and just settling through it.
You are far better than what your circumstances say you are. Life is too precious to live each day being a slave to self and seeking approval to be. You don't need anyone's approval to be free, Jesus already gave you that right as He bled on the cross of Calvary. You shouldn't be throwing tantrums at the devil, yours is to rebuke him and he'll flee. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. " Ephesians 612
Everything that comes to be has already been played out in the spiritual so it is pointless going to war with cutlasses and knives when all it takes is invoking the spirit. Prevention is better than cure, they say, so it is only wise you tie all loose ends that give the devil leverage over you.
Love God and perfect your ways in Christ Jesus, so He can do the heavy lighting while you sit calmly in the hollow of his arms.
I believe the 'slave to self' syndrome if I can put it that way has its deep roots in our spiritual nonchalance and negligence, but we can decide to go for the prevention tactics rather than the cure. I happen to be one of those Christians who do not like to blame everything on the devil and spiritual forces, we also have our shortcomings that serve as catalysts that subject us to the devil's torture and dictatorship.
The good news is that #God always leaves us with options, today we can decide not to journey through that path anymore and begin to guard our hearts jealously as we evaluate our Lifestreams and sources from which we derive our strength because that motivates our every move.
Quit being a #slave to self when you've got all it takes to redefine yourself. It's not too late to start again. As a matter of fact, you never stopped, you were just not moving in the right direction and that's the essence of this piece, to show you what way to go.
We are going east, casting all burdens, rebuking the beasts. Beast of anger, pride, fornication, procrastination, doubts, depression, unforgiveness, adultery, I mean, the list just goes on. #Sin will have us cruising in the wrong vehicle and sometimes with the right passengers, but what good is that anyway when navigation has been compromised?
Allow me to conclude by saying I know a slave who became a queen and a prisoner who got promoted to a minister, it's all there in the #Bible. Our present situations do not define us but serve as motivation to get us back en route, as we navigate the streets of the world and balconies of our hearts, remember one thing, everything you need to turn your life around is within. You can begin to live to your greatest potentials without asking for anyone's permission. You have God's.
Cheers
