One blessed evening coming back from the fellowship and heading to the school's
court to pray, close to where I came down from the bike was a lady in a
tricycle beckoning me to come inside as tho I had told her my destination and
where I was going was very trek able but the way she was repeating it I felt
pressured (imagine if it was a kidnap scene) and I just entered, and when I
told her where I was going she was like “AH, I THOUGHT YOU WERE ONE OF US â€
when I asked what she meant by that she said she was going for a show and she
was putting on a black gown and seeing that I was too, she just assumed we were
heading for the same place hmmm...
Okay, so what struck me here after I came down was indeed we can claim to be
Christians, and call ourselves believers but is there anything that
differentiates you from the world or its just name???
We get unnecessary pressurised to prove a point and end up doing things against
our beliefs and values (my forty naira just went like that).
We call ourselves Christians but we still talk, act, behave, and dress, like
those who are not, so what message do we want to pass across?
Where you're going should let you know the kind of people you keep around you.
The church is becoming more worldly, we are now imbibing so many trends and we
are becoming so comfortable with casual Christianity, let's be very careful
with what we accept as a trend.
Indeed, the world is developing and getting advanced and it's not a crime to
get developed but in that process let's not lose our MESSAGE.
Let's be careful not to lose our IDENTITY in the process of trying to BELONG
and not feeling left out.
If the salt loses its taste it shall be trampled upon
Matt 5:13, Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be
cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Yes, we are the light of the world but we can't do much if we are looking like
those we are meant to SAVE.
(P.S: I know someone might be saying what about looking like the Roman to save
them it's just like saying I should start smoking because I want to win a
smoker over, No, it means there's a way you can create space and love towards
an unbeliever, there's a way you can accommodate them to pass your message).
I hope this post reaches you well.
