The ability to use a rod and a staff to comfort you.

The Hurry To Become

Once upon a time, I had a thought out plan for my life.

I would finish school, get married, have kids, nurture them, help the poor, needy and disadvantaged in my society and boom. End of life!

Looking back now, it's such a boring flow of life, this again is why I am of the opinion that if we were left to write the stories of our lives and the order in which it would take, we all most likely would choose easy routes and ridiculously and amazingly easy pathways.

And guess what, it won't be as captivating, intriguing and God filled as it is now.

Now, I understand what David the psalmist was probably thinking when he wrote specifically psalms 23, highlighting the many paths of his becoming as he journeys with the good Shepherd, the one who has immensely the ability to use a rod and a staff to comfort you.

Just look at the irony of that life.

The topsy turvy lifestyle of being led by God into becoming, or so we think.

We really would be horrible storytellers if left alone to write our stories, it won't be this great!

Great you say, yes GREAT.

Really, what is the hurry to become, when you are being led by a God who has plans and thoughts for your life that are GOOD, so GOOD, you couldn't come up with it all by yourself.

As I sit reflecting, I ask myself, what is the hurry to become?

We are bombarded by self debilitating thoughts within ourselves, we look everywhere and social media and feel discontent with the life in our face, because for some reason, we just have to hurry.

On whose account?

By whose assumptions?

Hurry to become? What? Who?

Great things take time.

I spend a considerable sum of my day in the kitchen cooking and I have come to realise the only meal that does not require much time in its cooking is WHEN YOU ARE MICROWAVING OR WARMING AN ALREADY COOKED MEAL.

So again, I ask, what is this hurry?

You hurry into the next phase and miss out on the goodness of this phase of your life.

Silence the noise and follow the shepherd.

Silence the assumptions in your mind and follow the paths of righteousness laid out for your own journey.

Silence the discontent that is brewing in your heart from the constant exposure of all your senses to triggering visuals that weave a cord of discontent in your heart.

Enjoy each day, one step at a time, enjoying the victories given to you, through the many forms and formats catering to your destiny and walk in and with God.

Follow his lead, ask him questions about HIS plans and thoughts for your life.

The Hurry To Become, Is it Him or YOU?
