My name is Aanuoluwapo Adedire. I hail from Ile-Ife, Osun State. I am a Canadian/Nigerian based singer, songwriter, radio host/presenter
and a lawyer and associate arbitrator by profession.
I am the second of two children. My older brother and I grew
up with our parents in Ibadan, Oyo State (An amazing city which I love so
much). I am from Ile Ife, Osun State. My primary school was in Staff school
University of Ibadan, and Secondary school at Oritamefa Baptist Model school,
Total Garden Ibadan. I studied Law at the University of Ibadan in Oyo State,
Nigeria and went to the Nigerian law school Yola Campus.
I grew up with my older brother in Orogun, Ibadan in Oyo
state. My brother sings, writes songs and plays two instruments. So, growing
up, we used to sing and attend rehearsals together, and he will play the
keyboard. My parents are very accommodating people, which made us have loads of
amazing people that lived with us and were active choir members.
The church choir members coming around the house slowly
influenced my music and singing career and that influenced me to join the choir
at an early age of five. Growing up, I loved reading a lot and I used to listen
to a lot of gospel, country music and many other genres of music. I was also
somewhat of a talkative. I also used to love going to visit my grandparents and
mingle a lot with my cousins. I wanted to be either a lawyer or a teacher while
I was in primary school. My childhood was an amazing moment because I took
solace in music and books.
I got saved in August 2003, in Abeokuta, Ogun state during a revival program at the Jubilee Christian Centre. Before then, I had always gone
to church diligently and been in the choir, but that day of the program, I
fully got to understand the power of the Holy Spirit and that made me surrender
to Christ consciously and since then, it has been awesome, and my life changed
from that point on.
Life itself has so many challenges but when you give your
life to Christ, things do not remain the same. Even when you fall, you realize
the power of God helps us through our weaknesses. Therefore, for every
challenge I face, I trust God to help me overcome them. One of the challenges I
faced was when I trusted God to heal my aunt, but I still lost her. This caused
me to ask so many questions, but I have learnt over time that the Holy Spirit
helps us through all difficulties in life. His Companionship is the greatest as
long as you trust in Him and that is what I've learnt to do over the years and
through the process.
Today, as an ambassador for Christ, I'll say the journey has
been good because God has been faithful and true to His Word. My experience so
far has been that, just as the human body needs food, the spiritual body needs
to be fed as well. The spiritual food is the Word of Christ, so we need to know
these words for ourselves, enjoy the study of the word and be ambassadors of
Christ.
My Parting shot to as many reading this is that you trust
God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your
own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He's the
one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all. Run to God!
Run from evil!
(Proverbs 3: 5-7) - Put God at the center of everything you
do and cast your cares upon Him for He cares deeply for you. God bless!
