Just the other day I wanted to get cut fruits from a Mallam and I crossed over to where he was and said 'ABOKI' how much?
He didn't answer me for a few minutes and when he turned he
had a frown on his face.
And then he looked at me and said, I don't like being called
an ABOKI, I was stunned!
I immediately apologized and I asked him what ABOKI means,
his interpretation wasn't a bit clear because of his accent but then the name
speaks to maybe someone foolish as a cow, was his interpretation and said he
would prefer to be called a MALLAM.
Whoosh!
I again apologized and said to him that I wasn't aware of
what it meant but that it's just the common phrase a lot of non-Hausas calls
them.
I bought what I wanted, and went home.
Later the Holy Spirit highlighted the incident to me and
said, that is a clear case of KNOWING who you are and who you are not.
So when the enemy of your faith comes, you can fight from a
place of IDENTITY.
How do you war right when you don't know the truth of who
you are in God, how do you know what heaven has in accounts regarding you?
This understanding was so profound for me.
A lot of us are been called names constantly, names that we
have agreed to maybe as a result of circumstances, and we are wrongly walking
around and wondering why things are the way they are.
You must get to know what God calls you and why, you operate
better in life from knowing who you are and whose you are.
I know you are wondering what exactly is in a name.
Watch out for my next write-up on what's in a name!
