Power Of Spoken Words

Power Of Spoken Words

Words are powerful, likewise, the tongue by which they are spoken. Many lives and destinies unfortunately have been truncated by its use, just as there are great testaments recorded of awesome works done by the proper use of words. In other words, they can either be used positively or negatively. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

In Genesis 1:1-3, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light", and there was light.

That was a command — The power of spoken words in full flesh and positively used.

Now, in Matthew 21:18-20, As Jesus was returning to the city, He became hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, He went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And He said to it, "May no fruit ever come from you again!" And the fig tree withered at once. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, "How did the fig tree wither at one?"

That's the power of spoken words in action again, however, in this scenario, it was used negatively. My question now is, why is the WORD so powerful??

Hebrews 4:12 makes us understand that the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. If you've been allowing people to talk negatively about your life and destiny, it's time to rethink today. Words are life itself, they have the power to create and destroy. Speak your miracle into existence (Job 22:28)

With that established, what will make the Word work?

First and foremost, allow me to reaffirm that Jesus Christ according to John 1:1 is the Word. Each time you use the Word of God, you're calling Jesus Christ into action. However, for the Word to work for you;

1. You must know the Word Himself and that's by being born again — (John 3:16).

2. You must have a good knowledge of the Word of God — (2 Timothy 2:15).

3. It depends on the force behind the Word— (Luke 19:30-35).

4. Your faith — (Matthew 21:21-22, Hebrews 11:6A, Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 7:26-30).

5. You forsake sin — (Isaiah 59:2).

6. Because God is faithful — (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

As I conclude, unforgiveness, Un-surrendered spirit and sin are three major factors that will hinder the Word of God from being operational in our lives. Unfortunately, the devil knows this and that's why he accuses man's destinies. Many complain about praying ceaselessly, yet they don't receive the desired answers but how do God honour your request when you do not honour His Word?

Think about it!!!

While you do that, remember, that words are powerful, even more powerful is the Word of God. Resolve the rest of your life to leveraging on the victory He gives, for at the mention of His name, everything BOWS.

Everything.
